Marble Hill, Manhattan, NY (July 7, 2020) – Two people suffered injuries when a manhole cover exploded in the Marble Hill area of Upper Manhattan. The incident happened on Tuesday morning, July 7th, at the intersection of Broadway and West 25th Street.
According to authorities, the manhole cover exploded and blasted up into the elevated subway line above the intersection at around 10:00 a.m. Firefighters and police arrived at the scene where two people suffered injuries during the incident.
At least one victim was transported to a local hospital but officials have not commented on the current conditions of either party. Authorities believe that an electrical fire may have triggered the incident which remains under investigation.
