Marianna, AR (September 13, 2023) – A tragic crash occurred on U.S. 79 near Marianna on Monday, September 11, 2023.

Mary Mitchell, 85, from Marianna, was driving a 2014 Chrysler westbound around 3:39 p.m.

She hit the rear of a stationary 2020 Bluebird International bus with its lights on.

The bus was east of Lee County Road 415.

David Humphrey, 62, also of Marianna, drove the bus.

He sustained injuries and received treatment at a Forrest City hospital.

The accident claimed Mary Mitchell’s life.

The investigation is still ongoing.
