Marshall County, IN (September 13, 2023) – A major collision occurred at 8:10 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2023, in the southbound lanes of US 31 near 11th Road.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a distressing 911 call about the incident.
A 2016 Dodge pickup truck involved was engulfed in flames.
Arturo Mendez, the truck’s sole occupant, was rescued by passing citizens.
A maroon 2013 Honda car had two passengers with severe injuries.
Jarrod Nichols and Riley Duerstock were inside the Honda; Riley was trapped but later freed.
Plymouth Fire and EMS rushed all victims to Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
Alcohol may have played a part in the crash.
The investigation is still ongoing.
