Miami, FL – Tow Truck Driver Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run on I-95

Miami, FL (November 20, 2023) – A hit-and-run incident on I-95 claimed the life of a tow truck driver early Saturday morning, November 18. The Florida Highway Patrol is actively searching for the SUV driver in the crash near State Road 112.

At approximately 4:35 a.m., the tow truck driver assisted a disabled Cadillac on the southbound emergency shoulder. A gray Nissan SUV collided with him and the tow truck before the driver fled the scene on foot. The tow truck driver was declared dead at the location.

Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll highlighted the critical nature of Florida’s “Move Over” law for emergency and service vehicles’ safety. The southbound lanes and on-ramp to I-95 were closed for hours during the investigation, which is still ongoing. The SUV driver remains at large as of Saturday evening.
