Milnor, ND (October 21, 2024) – A serious three-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 13, approximately seven miles east of Milnor, on the evening of October 20. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the incident took place at 7:55 p.m. and left two drivers with serious injuries.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2020 Nissan Altima, driven by a 39-year-old man from Fargo, veered into the eastbound lane while attempting to pass another vehicle traveling westbound. This maneuver resulted in the Nissan sideswiping a 2016 Toyota Avalon, operated by a 23-year-old woman from Fargo, before colliding with a 2018 GMC Terrain driven by a 28-year-old woman from Milnor. The collision caused a T-bone impact, leading to the Nissan catching fire. Fortunately, passersby were able to pull the driver of the Nissan from the vehicle.
The driver of the Nissan sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was initially transported to Lisbon Hospital before being airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo for further treatment. The driver of the GMC Terrain suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while her 1-year-old passenger was unharmed. The driver of the Toyota Avalon reported no injuries.
Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including the North Dakota Highway Patrol, local sheriff’s offices, and emergency medical services from Lisbon, Milnor, Wyndmere, and Forman, arrived at the scene to assist. The crash is currently under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
