Monroe, MO (July 10, 2023) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol received a report of a crash on Friday, July 7, 2023, on Highway 15 about five miles north of Paris, where two infants and two adults were injured.
Jason Rieger, 25, from Paris, Missouri, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu north when he lost control and crashed after going off the road to the right.
Rieger made an excessive left turn correction, causing the car to skid, hit the ground, and flip over.
Debra Shepherd, 20, from Paris, was an ejected passenger and severely injured.
She did not have a seatbelt on.
The report states that two infant girls, ages 0 and 1, sustained moderate injuries.
They were safely restrained in protective gear.
The 1-year-old was driven in an ambulance, while the younger child was flown to University Hospital.
Shepherd was taken by helicopter to University Hospital as well.
Rieger was taken by ambulance to University Hospital after suffering some minor injuries.
A seatbelt could be seen on him.
The Chevy was written off completely, as stated in the report.
The investigation is still ongoing.
