Montgomery, AL (October 19, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon along U.S. Highway 231 in Montgomery County, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to another. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed that the crash took place around 6 p.m., approximately five miles outside of the Montgomery city limits.
The incident involved a head-on collision between a 2001 Freightliner tractor-trailer, driven by 61-year-old Idrissa Sidibe from New York City, and a 2013 International tractor-trailer operated by 28-year-old Wesley C. Jenkins from Mannford, Oklahoma. Following the collision, both vehicles erupted in flames and were completely engulfed.
Idrissa Sidibe was pronounced dead at the scene, while Wesley Jenkins was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment of undisclosed injuries. ALEA's Highway Patrol Division is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
