Morgan, MO (October 20, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred on October 19, 2024, at approximately 4:45 PM at the intersection of Hopewell Road and Kelsay Road. The incident involved two vehicles and prompted a response from local emergency services.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 1984 dune buggy, driven by 61-year-old Russell H. Gibson from Versailles, MO, was traveling eastbound on Kelsay Road when it failed to yield to a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 42-year-old Leanna M. Leinbach, who was traveling southbound on Hopewell Road. The collision occurred when the driver side of the dune buggy struck the passenger side of the Chevrolet Suburban.
The impact resulted in moderate damage to the dune buggy, which was towed from the scene by Whans Towing in Versailles. The Chevrolet Suburban sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.
Emergency responders transported both Gibson and his passenger, 65-year-old Connie S. Kauffman, also from Versailles, MO, to Capital Region Hospital in Jefferson City for evaluation and treatment of their injuries.
