Nassau County, FL (August 15, 2023) – A crash on Monday morning, August 14, 2023, resulted in a fire and the death of a 91-year-old man from Jacksonville on Interstate 95.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on I-95 northbound, just south of U.S. 17, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The man, driving a Hyundai sedan, was merging from the right shoulder into the right lane.
A tan semi-truck, operated by a 46-year-old from Kentucky, was also in the right lane.
The Hyundai entered the path of the semi-truck, leading to a collision and subsequent flames that engulfed both vehicles, according to FHP.
The semi-truck driver was hospitalized, while the Hyundai driver died.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
