Sparks, NV – Train Collides with Cement Truck on I-80 near Derby Dam

Sparks, NV (February 21, 2020) – Officials from the Nevada Highway Patrol were at the scene of a collision involving an Amtrak California Zephyr train and a cement truck on Thursday, February 20th.

The collision occurred in Sparks on I-80 near the Derby Dam. Authorities were notified of the collision at around 10:20 a.m. 

There were injuries reporting in the crash. None of the 78 passengers on board the train were injured in the collision. According to initial reports, the cement truck was on the tracks at the time of the crash.

An ongoing investigation into the accident is being handled by Amtrak Police and local law enforcement.
