Nevada Intersection Accidents
While all areas of the road can be potentially dangerous, intersections can be particularly hazardous for two primary reasons. Intersections are a magnet for serious crashes, despite only making up a minority of roadways in the United States. A report from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials found that intersections have become more dangerous than they were 25 years ago, hosting nearly 50% of crashes reported in urban areas.
Each year, there are an estimated 2.5 million intersection crashes reported across the United States. These collisions account for 40% of reported crashes, making them the second-largest crash category in the nation. Intersections are the location of 50% of injury crashes and 20% of fatal accidents reported annually. These accidents are predominantly caused by reckless or negligent drivers who fail to yield the right of way while crossing an intersection. Those injured in a sudden accident should contact a qualified Las Vegas personal injury attorney in order to recover the compensation they need to make a full recovery.
