New Cassel, NY (November 22, 2021) – A man who was hit and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train on Tuesday, November 16th has finally been identified.
A Metropolitan Transportation Authority official reported that 81-year-old Chesnel Veillard, a resident of New Cassel, was hit by a train on the Long Island Railroad’s Main Line at the Mineola station.
Authorities revealed that Veillard had dementia and went missing hours before he was struck by the train. He was last seen at about 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday in New Cassel.
