New Hartford, NY (November 24, 2022) – Authorities have now identified the elderly woman who was killed in a collision last week in the town of New Hartford. The fatal accident occurred on Friday evening, November 18th, at approximately 5:45 p.m.

Police say that a woman, now identified as 71-year-old Marcia Pritchard of Clark Mills, was driving east on Route 5 when she collided head-on with another vehicle operated by Pamela Merriman, 61, of Rome. A vehicle traveling behind Merriman was unable to avoid the collision and crashed into the back of her vehicle.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, where they transported Pritchard, Merriman, and one passenger in Merriman’s vehicle to local hospitals. Pritchard was reported in critical condition, where she remained until she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

Both Merriman and her passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were later released from the hospital. No further details are available.

The events that caused the collision are being investigated.
