New Haven, NY (March 23, 2023) – A school bus aide tragically lost her life in a motor vehicle collision with a pickup truck that occurred in the town of New Haven. The fatal accident happened at the intersection of County Routes 1 & 6 at around 6:39 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 22nd.
Authorities say that 69-year-old Mark T. Vosseller, of Fulton, was driving a Mexico Academy Central School Bus when he went through the intersection. The bus was subsequently struck by a 2022 Dodge pickup truck operated by 45-year-old Jonathan H. Duval of Mexico, NY.
Emergency crews were sent to the scene shortly after the crash, and one passenger on the school bus, identified as 63-year-old Theresa A. Steele, was taken to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Both Vosseller and Duval were also taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No students were on board the bus at the time of the crash.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further information will be reported at a later time.
