Hatch, NM – Update: Identities of Two Killed in Crash on Hwy 26 Released

Hatch, NM (September 13, 2019) – Authorities have released the identities of the two people who were tragically killed in a car crash on Highway 26 on Thursday afternoon, September 12th. officials with New Mexico State Police stated that the fatal crash happened at approximately 2:11 p.m. near the town of Hatch.

According to police, a 2008 Chrysler operated by 76-year-old Jerry Douglas Livingston, of Tucson, AZ, was traveling east along the highway when it collided with a tractor-trailer near milepost 45. Emergency responders rushed to the scene where both Mr. Livingston and his passenger, Margaret Ann Livingston, 72, were pronounced deceased.

Investigators have determined that alcohol was not a factor in the crash and that seatbelts were properly utilized. Highway 26 was shut down in both directions while crews worked at the scene. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of this incident.
