Santa Fe, NM (October 9, 2019) – Police in Santa Fe have now identified one of the two people who tragically died in a small plane crash in the Pecos Wilderness. Search and rescue officers discovered two bodies at the crash site back on Sunday, September 29th, at around 9:00 a.m.
According to authorities, Nicholas Peterson, 29, of Littleton, CO, was the pilot of the small plane which went missing after it stopped to refuel at the Santa Fe Regional Airport. The single-engine, four-seat aircraft was carrying Peterson and one passenger when it left the airport at 5:49 p.m. before losing contact with air traffic control at 6:01 p.m.
The two victims were found, but authorities have still not identified the passenger at this time. The Federal Aviation Administration is in charge of the investigation into this accident.
