Albany, NY (August 23, 2019) – Early on Friday morning, August 23rd, firefighters were summoned to the scene of a multi-house fir on Myrtle Avenue in the city of Albany. The fire started in the early morning hours and impacted five buildings, according to authorities.
An official with the Albany Fire Department stated that the blaze is believed to have started inside a vacant home located at 20 Myrtle Avenue. Firefighters worked at the scene as the fire spread to nearby homes and medical personnel arrived at the location.
According to authorities, two residents of the nearby houses suffered undisclosed injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Altogether, 40 people were displaced as a result of the fire.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of this incident.
