Binghamton, NY (October 31, 2019) – Police have released the identity of a man who was sadly killed after a fire broke out inside of a third-floor apartment located above Little Venice Restaurant Saturday, October 26th. Andrew Menke, 47, of Binghamton, died in the fire at 111 Chenango Street in Binghamton.
According to first responders, Binghamton Police officers were dispatched to the scene along with firefighters at approximately 12:49 p.m. Menke was found in a hallway as firefighters battled flames and smoke on the upper floors.
The victim was taken to UHS Wilson Medical Center before being transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later at the hospital.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
