Bronx, NY (September 27, 2019) – An FDNY official stated that an explosion occurred on Thursday afternoon, September 26th, while workers were testing a gas line in the Bronx. The incident, which left two people with injuries, happened at around 3:00 p.m. in front of 35 East Clarke Place in the Mt. Eden section of the city.
According to officials, crews with Con Edison were pressurizing a gas main which had no gas in it at the time. The blast was subsequently caused when the main gas line ruptured. The explosion left the street and nearby cars covered in dust.
