Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY (September 6, 2019) – Police have now confirmed that five, not four, people were injured in the wrong-way crash that took place on Chester Street in Brooklyn early Thursday morning, September 5th. It has also been verified that two of the victims, not one, were seriously injured in the accident that happened at around 1:00 a.m.
According to police, a Chevrolet Impala was traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction down Chester Street in the Brownsville section of the city. The Impala ultimately struck a Nissan Altima at the intersection with Sutter Avenue, causing the Impala to overturn and burst into flames.
The occupants of the Impala fled the scene on foot but five occupants of the Altima suffered various injuries. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and later verified that a 27-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition. One other passenger sustained serious injuries, as well, but their current condition was not reported. Three individuals suffered minor injuries.
All five parties were hospitalized and police are continuing to search for the occupants of the Impala as part of their investigation.
