Buffalo, NY (January 13, 2020) – The Route 33 Expressway was closed down for approximately three hours on Monday morning, January 13th, after a 16-vehicle collision took place in the westbound lanes. The crash, which left four people injured, occurred at around 5:35 a.m., according to police.
Authorities stated that a total of 16 vehicles were involved in the crash, 11 of which had to be towed away from the scene. Emergency responders arrived at the accident site and transported four drivers to local hospitals with various injuries. At this time, all injuries have been reported as non-life threatening.
Police have said that icy roads may have contributed to the size of the collision.
