Campbell, NY (July 16, 2020) – On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 15th, authorities were dispatched to the scene of a fatal house fire that took place in the town of Campbell. The deadly incident was reported inside of a home located at 51 Pine Drive around 4:07 p.m.
State troopers from the Painted Post Station were dispatched to the scene alongside multiple fire departments and ambulances. At the scene, members from both the East Campbell Fire and Coopers Plains Fire Departments removed one person from inside the home. The victim, identified as Howard Marshall, 79, was assisted by paramedics but was pronounced deceased moments later.
No other injuries were reported during the incident.
New York State Police authorities were assisted in their investigation by the Steuben County Fire Investigation Team. Officials determined that the fire was caused by an electrical issue that started underneath the residence. No further information has been made available.
