Chelsea, Manhattan, NY – Construction Worker Killed & One Hurt in Explosion on 9th Ave

Chelsea, Manhattan, NY (July 2, 2020) – An incident involving a fire extinguisher that exploded caused the death of one construction worker and left another injured in Chelsea. The fatal accident was reported inside a building located at 341 9th Avenue at around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning, July 1st.

According to authorities, the two workers involved were performing duties when a fire extinguisher exploded on the fourth floor of the building. First responders arrived at the scene where one worker was pronounced deceased. The other victim was transported to Lenox Healthplex in Greenwich Village with serious injuries.

At this time, investigators are working to determine the cause of this incident.

No further details have been reported.
