Coram, NY (October 11, 2020) – A motorcycle carrying a driver and passenger was struck on Sunday, October 11th in Coram. The force of the impact ejected both people from the motorcycle and caused injuries to all three people.
According to a report from the Suffolk County Police Department, the accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. when a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle traveling northbound on Route 112 was struck by a 2014 Honda that was pulling out of a local gas station.
The driver of the motorcycle, 24-year-old Melvin Rodriguez-Carvajl, a resident of Port Jefferson Station, and his passenger, 19-year-old Elianny Feliz-Rodriguez, also a resident of Port Jefferson Station, were both transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries that were classified as critical.
The driver of the Honda, 47-year-old Virginia Acosta, a resident of Coram, was transported via ambulance to the same medical facility with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined and is still under investigation by local law enforcement.
