East Islip, NY (September 27, 2019) – A 61-year-old woman was tragically killed in a house fire that broke out on Washington Avenue Friday morning, September 27th. The fire was reported at around 2:12 a.m. at a home located between Jackson Street and Adams Street West.
According to Suffolk County Police, a woman identified as Laurie Addeo, along with her husband and his mother were home when the fire started. Three tenants identified only as a man, a woman, and their 10-year-old son were also inside the house. Laurie Addeo tragically lost her life in the blaze but all others were able to escape.
Crews from six different fire departments battled the flames for approximately one hour and forty minutes before getting it under control. The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
