Elmhurst, Queens, NY (May 20, 2020) – A fire that tore through a home in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens claimed the life of one man and left an elderly woman injured, according to authorities. It happened early on Wednesday morning, May 20th, at around 5:15 a.m.
The fire happened inside of a home located on 90th Street, resulting in firefighters and paramedics at the scene. Officials stated that 77-year-old Paul Agopian was pronounced deceased shortly after authorities arrived. A second resident of the home, identified only as an elderly woman was transported to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to responding officials, several firefighters were treated for minor injuries at the scene. The cause of this incident is under investigation.
