Flushing, NY (July 22, 2020) – At approximately 3:15 p.m., on July 21, the New York Fire Department responded to the site of a fire incident at 104-27 43rd Avenue.
Reports provided by FDNY show that a fire broke out at a residence on 43rd Avenue for unknown reasons. Reports came in that several people were trapped in the living room located on the third floor of the building. Firefighters arrived at the site of the incident and began to battle the blaze immediately. Within ten minutes, firefighters made it to the second floor of the building and were able to extinguish the flames and move upward. Within 25-minutes, firefighters were able to take complete control of the situation and deemed the fire to be out.
Firefighters located three victims on the third floor who were taking shelter. Two victims sustained minor injuries in the incident. A third victim sustained serious injuries in the fire. At least one victim was transported from the site of the incident to a local hospital for treatment. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
