Hudson Valley, NY (August 19, 2019) – Two people were tragically killed after a plane that was heading to Long Island crashed into a home in Hudson Valley on Saturday, August 17th. The Dutchess County crash happened around 4:15 p.m. after the aircraft experienced engine trouble.
Officials stated that the twin-engine plane, carrying the pilot and two passengers, was scheduled to land in Farmingdale at the Republic Airport. Unfortunately, engine trouble occurred and the plane subsequently crashed into a home approximately one mile from the airport.
Francisco Knipping-Diaz, 61, of Woodmere, was identified as the pilot who was pronounced deceased at the scene. His two passengers, 50-year-old Eduardo Tio, of Woodmere, New York, and Teofilio Antonio Diaz Pratt, of the Dominican Republic, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Gerard Bocker, 61, as well as his two daughters, Hannah and Sarah, were inside the home at the time of the crash. Gerard was killed immediately during the incident, but both daughters suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is actively being investigated.
