Junius, NY (January 26, 2020) – A woman was killed during a three-car collision on Thursday, January 23rd along Route 318 at around 2:00 p.m.
Police reports state that a car driven by 70-year-old Marianne White, a resident of Auburn, was driving westbound when she was sideswiped by a car driven by 59-year-old Kimberly Tompkins that was traveling in the opposite direction.
The sheriff’s office has stated that distracted driving was a factor in the accident. Tompkins told the deputies that she looked away while driving on a curve and accidentally veered over the center line where she sideswiped White’s car.
The force of the impact caused White’s car to swerve into the eastbound lane where another car, driven by 45-year-old Angelo Mascioli, a resident of Newark, collided with White’s car.
Firefighters were on the scene to extricate White and her passenger, 72-year-old Paul Crapo. White and Crapo were transported to Geneva General Hospital. White later died from her injuries. Crapo received emergency medical treatment for injuries to his chest and ribs.
Mascioli was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He received emergency care for injuries to his hips and legs.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Marianne White, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
