Lockport, NY – 11-Year-Old Fatally Struck by Car on Rapids Rd

Lockport, NY (November 14, 2020) – An 11-year-old girl has died from injuries she received when she was hit by a car as she walked along Rapids Road with four other girls in the city of Lockport on Tuesday, November 10th. 

As reported by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the child was listed in critical condition at Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo until she passed away Thursday night.  

A second victim was treated and subsequently released from Oishei Children’s Hospital and the third victim is still hospitalized but is reportedly in stable condition.

The incident took place in the 7500 block of Rapids Road, at about 5:35 p.m., when five children, all between 9 and 14-years-old, were walking northbound along Rapids Road when three of them were hit by a car traveling in the same direction on Rapids Road.  

The driver of the car, who said he did not see the group of children, was unharmed during the accident. Police have indicated that he has cooperated with their investigation and that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
