Manhattan, NY (May 28, 2020) – A falling tree branch struck four people in Riverside Park on Wednesday evening, May 27th, leaving three of them injured. The incident was reported at around 6:00 p.m. near Riverside Drive and West 91st Street in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
According to authorities, the four people involved were walking through the park when they were struck by a large branch. Medical personnel arrived at the scene and transported three of the four victims to a nearby hospital.
The victims, identified only as a 48-year-old female, a 55-year-old female, and a 53-year-old male, all suffered head injuries. The 55-year-old female also suffered a hand injury and all injuries were reported as non-life threatening.
The New York Parks Department is looking for the cause of limb failure as the incident remains under investigation.
