Pedestrian Injuries in Middletown

Middletown, NY - Tractor-Trailer Hits Pedestrian on SR-17

In one recent year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that, out of 207 car accident-related fatalities in New York City, 45% of them, 95, were pedestrians.

Pedestrians are required to follow traffic signals, use crosswalks to get across the street, and yield to any vehicle that has the right-of-way. Even when a pedestrian makes a mistake, however, due to the extreme danger posed by a car crash, drivers have a responsibility to make every effort to avoid striking a pedestrian.

Pedestrians are frequently involved in New York car accidents caused by driver inattention, including distraction stemming from cell phone use, drinking and eating, and other irrelevant behaviors taking place behind the wheel. Pedestrians are also in harm’s way anytime a driver pulls away from or backs out of a parking spot, driveway, or alley without first checking their surroundings, including their blind spots.

Being seriously injured in a pedestrian accident of any kind is not only painful and scary but can also be overwhelmingly difficult in many ways. Our team at Local Accident Reports understands this.
