Niagara Falls, NY (September 16, 2020) – A Niagara Falls man has been arrested after a causing a crash that left a police officer injured on Tuesday afternoon, September 15th. The collision was reported at the intersection of 13th Street and Pierce Avenue at around 1:00 p.m.

According to the Niagara Falls Police Department, 20-year-old Nyrece D. Richardson, of Portage Road, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu when he went through the intersection believing that the two-way stop was a four-way stop. Richardson failed to yield to a police cruiser and collided with the vehicle.

The officer suffered lower back and leg injuries and was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital for treatment. No further information was reported regarding the current condition of the injured officer.

While at the scene of the crash, police officials were told that Malibu Richardson was driving had been reported stolen. The owner of the vehicle said that he lives with Richardson but did not give him permission to drive the car. Richardson was arrested and charged with failure to yield, unlicensed operation, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
