Pulaski, NY (September 12, 2019) – A total of four people suffered various injuries following a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday night, September 10th. The collision took place along Interstate 81 near the town of Pulaski.
State Police said that a young woman, identified as Darien H. Hill, 22, of Watertown, was heading north along the interstate in a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu while using a cell phone. Hill suddenly swerved to avoid striking a 2019 Toyota pickup truck being driven by 50-year-old Joseph F Thompson, of Coatesville, PA, according to troopers.
Hill ultimately lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the pickup, as well as a guard rail, before coming to a stop in the roadway. 21-year-old Amber L. Mitchell, of Fort Drum, was operating a 2017 Subaru in the passing lane and subsequently crashed into the Malibu and the back of a tow truck which had been parked in the area.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported Mitchell, as well as Maddison A. Johnson and a one-year-old child, both passengers in Mitchell’s vehicle, to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for various injuries. Mikayla R. Ames, 20, a passenger in the tow truck was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse with a head injury. Neither Hill nor Thompson were injured in the accident.
Our thoughts are with all four injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recoveries.
