Fatal Speeding Accidents in Queens
Speeding is an all-too-common factor in serious New York car accidents. Drivers who cause car accidents by driving at unsafe speeds will be held responsible for the deaths, injuries, losses, and damages they create. As published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, around 30% of all fatal car accidents in the United States involve a vehicle that was being driven at a dangerous speed.
Statewide, in 2012, speeding motorists were a prevalent factor in the deaths of 81 people, a huge leap from the 49 fatalities that occurred in 2011. This rise in vehicular fatalities forced New York legislators to intercede. Starting in 2013, the New York Department of Transportation began installing speed enforcement cameras in an effort to hinder speeding drivers.
