Queens, NY (September 24, 2020) – A restaurant delivery driver, identified as Mariano Canales, 27, of Woodside, was killed in a collision on Wednesday night, September 23rd. The fatal crash happened at the intersection of 24th Avenue and 33rd Street around 9:15 p.m.

Authorities say that Canales was traveling east along 24th Avenue on a blue Yamaha Chappy scooter when he collided with a Chrysler Town & Country minivan at the intersection with 33rd Street. Canales was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics who responded to the crash.

The driver of the minivan, identified only as a 73-year-old male, was uninjured in the incident. Police investigators are presently working to establish the events that led to this collision.
