Queensbury, NY (October 10, 2020) – A man from Queensbury was critically injured during an accident on Friday, October 9th.
At about 8:45 a.m., deputies from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a car accident involving a bicycle and a Jeep along State Route 9 at the intersection for Round Pond Road.
As reported by the sheriff’s office, 65-year-old Sandra L. Blackman, a resident of Queensbury, was driving southbound on Route 9 in a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. As she attempted to make a lefthand turn onto Round Pond Road. 53-year-old Chase A. Burnett was heading northbound on his bicycle along the same road. When Burnett passed through the intersection, the Jeep collided with his bicycle was struck, throwing him into the street.
Burnett was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for emergency medical treatment of his injuries, which were classified as critical.
Officials have reported that they do not believe speed and alcohol played a role.
Members of the Queensbury Central Fire Department and the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad were both on the scene to assist.
This accident is still under investigation.
