Schenectady, NY (May 22, 2020) – According to the Schenectady Fire Chief, one person was killed during a fire that occurred on Elmer Avenue late Wednesday morning, May 20th, shortly before noon.

Authorities stated that firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene where a fire broke out on the third floor of a residence. Crews were able to extinguish the flames in under 30 minutes and one victim was located deceased at the scene.

Investigators are working to establish the cause of the fire. No further details were made available.
