Schoharie, NY (August 14, 2020) – According to the New York State Police, two people were killed in a collision with a Department of Transportation vehicle that took place on Thursday afternoon, August 13th. The fatal accident happened at around 1:40 p.m. on New York State Route 145, at or near the intersection with Keyser Road in the town of Schoharie.

Investigators say that Anthony L. Parrotti, 74, of Schoharie, was traveling north on NY-145 when he attempted a U-turn and was struck by a 2008 Ford F350 DOT truck. Emergency responders arrived at the scene where both Parrotti and his passenger, Manuel Gonzales, 94, of Schoharie, were pronounced deceased.

The driver of the DOT truck, 27-year-old Michael VanValkenburg, of Schenevus, was not injured in the collision. At this time, investigators are still working to establish the exact events that led to this incident. No further information has been detailed.
