Selden, NY – One Individual Injured in House Fire on Abinet Ct

Selden, NY (January 3, 2021) – On Saturday afternoon, January 2, one person was injured in a house fire that took place in Selden.

Police confirmed that an officer arrived at the scene of the home on Abinet Court to find that the house was completely engulfed in flames. A woman in the home alerted fire crews and police immediately after the fire started. However, she and her husband ran back inside the home for their pets.

The officer, identified as Officer Sean Kalletta, safely rescued the people inside, as well as one of the animals. The other animal made it out on its own.

The officer was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation injuries. The two people living inside the home, identified as 55-year-old Robert Baker and 51-year-old Debra Baker, were not injured.

The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
