As stated in a press release, a Delaware County official stated that at 11:30 a.m., the Stamford Fire Department, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies, AMR Ambulance, other first responders, and LifeNet of New York, all reported to the scene of a wrong-way accident on State Highway 10 near the Terry Road intersection.
Their preliminary investigation into the accident revealed that 61-year-old Michael P. Koch, a resident of Hobart, was heading northbound along the highway when he was distracted by another vehicle. This moment of inattention caused him to veer into the southbound lane where he collided head-first with a car driven by 68-year-old Dolores A. Austin, a resident of Hobart.
Austin was airlifted from the crash site by LifeNet of New York helicopter and flown to Albany Medical Center. Her injuries were classified as critical.
