Staten Island, NY – Deputy Injured in Pedestrian Crash on S Railroad Ave

Staten Island, NY (December 6, 2020) – On Sunday morning, December 6, a deputy was injured in a pedestrian crash that took place in Staten Island.

The accident happened after deputies approached 34-year-old Daniel Presti, the co-owner of a Staten Island bar (Mac’s Public House) that was continuously avoiding coronavirus restrictions in the area.

The sheriffs attempted to put Presti under arrest but he fled from officers and got into his vehicle so that he could flee the scene. He drove into one of the deputies, who was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle with force. The driver then continued down South Railroad Avenue with the deputy on the hood.

After 100 yards, Presti stopped the vehicle and was arrested. He is expected to face numerous charges.

The deputy who was injured in the accident was immediately taken to Staten Island University Hospital for treatment, though his condition is not yet known.

Police continue their investigation into the accident.
