Syracuse, NY (August 21, 2020) – Officials with the Syracuse Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of an apartment fire that left at least one person injured early on Friday morning, August 21st. The incident happened inside the Toomey Abbot Towers located at 1207 Almond Street in Syracuse at around 3:00 a.m.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to battle the blaze on the 10th floor of the high-rise building where they were able to contain the flames to one unit. Residents were evacuated and EMTs worked to assist one person who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, the injured victim was reported to suffer smoke inhalation but no further details have been confirmed. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
