Yonkers, NY (February 25, 2020) – One person was killed and five others were injured during an apartment fire that broke out in Yonkers on Sunday night, February 23rd. The incident, which also left at least seven firefighters with injuries, was reported at around 7:35 p.m. on Saratoga Avenue.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 112 Saratoga Avenue to battle the flames on the top floor of the four-story building. Multiple residents were trapped inside when first responders arrived and helped them escape. One resident was forced to jump from the building, subsequently breaking both their legs.
All victims were transported to nearby hospitals and one person was pronounced deceased at the scene. The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
