Newhall, CA (August 4, 2025) – Several people were hurt late Sunday night following a high-speed collision on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 just north of Balboa Blvd. The multi-vehicle crash occurred around 11:46 p.m., involving at least two cars, including a gray Chevrolet Corvette and a Toyota sedan.
According to witness reports and CHP logs, the Corvette was traveling at high speeds before it collided with another vehicle, causing major damage and triggering airbag deployment in both the Corvette and a second vehicle, possibly a blue Chevrolet Malibu. One of the vehicles reportedly rolled over during the crash, and the scene blocked the HOV lane and surrounding traffic.
Emergency medical services, including Los Angeles Fire Department crews, arrived quickly to assist those injured. OnStar services indicated that at least one female occupant was conscious and breathing but had sustained injuries. Paramedics treated several victims at the scene, and at least one person was likely transported for additional medical evaluation.
Towing services, including Franco’s Towing and Freeway Towing, were called to remove the damaged vehicles from the roadway. Authorities worked to safely reopen traffic after clearing the vehicles and debris from the HOV and center divider areas. The CHP confirmed the incident as an injury crash and is continuing its investigation into excessive speed and reckless driving as contributing factors.
We wish all those injured in this serious collision a full and quick recovery.
High-Speed Collisions on California Interstates
Accidents caused by excessive speed, like the one that occurred on I-5 near Balboa Blvd, remain a serious safety concern throughout Southern California’s freeway system. In this crash, witnesses reported a gray sports car traveling recklessly just before impact. High-speed collisions often result in greater injury risk, especially when airbags deploy or rollovers occur.
Interstate 5 through Newhall is one of the busiest stretches in the region, and crashes during late-night hours are particularly dangerous due to limited visibility and reduced traffic enforcement. The impact of a crash at freeway speeds can be devastating, leaving victims with both immediate trauma and long-term physical and financial hardships.
For those involved in such incidents, the aftermath is often chaotic. Injured parties may be unsure where to turn for support, especially when dealing with medical bills, insurance claims, and legal procedures. That’s why timely help is critical—both at the scene and in the days that follow.
