Newport News, VA (September 17, 2025) – A three-vehicle collision caused injuries and disrupted traffic Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Dresden Dr and Jefferson Ave in Newport News. The crash was reported shortly after 3:00 p.m. and prompted a swift emergency response from local medical and fire personnel.
The incident occurred on the southbound side of Jefferson Ave, close to Thurston Dr, a stretch of roadway frequently traveled by both local commuters and commercial traffic. Multiple vehicles were involved in the crash, and at least one person sustained injuries requiring on-scene medical care. Authorities have not yet released the identity or condition of the injured parties.
Fire and EMS crews worked quickly to assess the scene, treat those involved, and direct traffic safely around the wreckage. While no fatalities have been reported, the crash contributed to significant congestion in the area during peak mid-day traffic hours.
All vehicles involved sustained varying degrees of damage, and tow trucks were called in to remove the wreckage. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Newport News Police.
