Newton, MO (September 18, 2023) – A serious motorcycle crash occurred on Sunday, September 17, 2023, on MO43, three miles south of Reddings Mill.

Around 3:00 p.m., James R. Ward, 53, from Seneca, lost control of his 2006 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic.

He swerved to dodge slow-moving traffic, causing the bike to overturn.

Both Ward and passenger Aimee M. Alverson, 47, of Seneca, were ejected.

Neither used safety devices during the accident.

Both sustained serious injuries, and EMS transported them to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

The investigation is still ongoing.
