According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old man from Maitland, MO, was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 eastbound on Route A when he stopped at a posted stop sign but then proceeded into the intersection. His vehicle entered the path of a southbound 2012 Ford Escape driven by a 43-year-old woman from Barnard, MO. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Shell’s Towing and Kizer Towing of Maryville. The crash remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full recovery.
Intersection Accidents in Missouri
Intersections, such as US-71 and Route A, are common sites for collisions, especially when a driver fails to yield. Even when stopping at a posted sign, misjudging the speed or distance of oncoming traffic can result in serious crashes. Accidents at high-speed roadways like US-71 often cause significant damage and injuries.
Missouri law requires drivers to yield the right-of-way at controlled intersections, particularly when merging onto highways. When drivers fail to do so, victims may suffer injuries that lead to extensive medical expenses, lost wages, and long-term rehabilitation needs. Understanding legal options is crucial for accident victims seeking compensation for their losses.
