Norfolk, NE (October 11, 2024) – A serious accident occurred Wednesday afternoon, October 9, involving a tractor pulling a grain cart and a semi-tanker trailer on Highway 275, just east of 549th Avenue. The Nebraska State Patrol is currently investigating the incident, which resulted in injuries to two individuals.
According to Cody Thomas, the public relations director for the state patrol, the crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. A westbound tractor was hauling soybeans in a grain cart when it was rear-ended by the semi-tanker. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and the driver of the tractor was transported by ambulance to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, where he was treated and later released. The driver of the semi-tanker was flown to a hospital in Sioux City and is reported to be in stable condition.
The accident led to a spill of soybeans on the roadway, necessitating the closure of Highway 275 for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the area and manage the cleanup.
