Car Accidents in Fargo
Between the years 2014 and 2018, roughly 60% out of all victims who were killed in a North Dakota motor vehicle accident were not buckled up when the accident took place. Additionally, 80% of the victims who were unbuckled and subsequently died were males.
Car accident statistics reveal a straightforward link between a state’s rate of seat belt usage and island the rate of critical injuries. In North Dakota, vehicle occupants who chose to forego proper seat belt use made up the greatest percentage of both car accident-related deaths and catastrophic injuries. On the other hand, their belted counterparts frequently walked away unharmed or having sustained only very minor injuries.
In just 2018, almost half of the state’s car accident-related deaths were victims who were not wearing a seat belt. Out of those unbuckled fatalities, 32% of the victims had been fully or partially thrown from the vehicle. Furthermore, just over 60% of single-vehicle rollovers that ended in death were from a driver not wearing his or her seat belt at the time of the accident.
Although North Dakota’s rate of seat belt usage has been comparatively steady, the nation’s overall rate of seat belt usage has surpassed it over the past decade.
